External Hard drive

OK so we bought a portable external hard drive and I have no clue what to do with it or how to use it! its called a My Passport Essential SE by WD can anyone help me?

Woot! I have one. IT'S FANTASTIC.

The way to work it: it's basically a USB drive on steroids. You use the cable to connect the drive to your computer, and then it will appear as a storage drive when you open My Computer. You can copy and paste all the stuff you want backed up onto the drive(probably even EVERYTHING on the computer, if the external drive is big enough). *DO NOT LEAVE IT ATTACHED TO YOUR COMPUTER--IT'S ONLY FOR USE AS A BACKUP, AND IF YOU LEAVE IT ATTACHED, IT IS JUST AS SUSCEPTIBLE TO ATTACK AS YOUR PC*

Advice: the My Passport series comes with backup software on the drive. It's a little quirky, so I don't like to use it, but I guess you can try if you want. I find copying and pasting into the drive more effective.
